Having the Year first makes no sense, because it's the least important part unless you're too retarded to know what year it is, Days are more likely to be different, months less likely to be different and years even less likely.

TUAW is not at fault here... Frequency shouldn't put in fake dates in their web announcing it as "the worldwide leopard launch"! What were they thinking really? I don't get the necessity to make up an imaginary date. Anyone could have made the same mistake if it wasn't for the Frequency comment on the WP blog... which is something that probably came to them later in time...
It´s just a misunderstanding, don't get mad.

@ 24 whilst we are getting very off the point here you are wrong, sorting doesn't just work on the the first 2 characters but the whole string, simply try it.

You Australians might not have your dates in "random order" but they are backwards. Dates should always be YYYY/MM/DD. From largest to smallest.

If you sort a list of dates in DD/MM/YYYY format, you could have 1st March 2007, 1st February 1994, 1st December 2115 all bunched together, before 2nd June 1996, 3rd April 1941, etc.

I feel all of you that have mentioned TUAW should be more responsible have a valid point.

However it is equally very important to point out that Frequency leaving the page on IN PLAIN SIGHT and not on a development server BUT A PRODUCTION LIVE WEB SERVER is in clear violation of Apple Reseller policy globally. It is illegal, irresponsible, and unnecessary. The excuse that "it was just a mockup" is really, really poor. Causing such confusion and making Apple Australia look bad is not cool.

They have since adjusted the page. Regardless of their performance as a Apple reseller (I understand a lot of challenges with that, they may be quite good, or maybe not, I won't comment as I don't know about their performance in recent years)... the web page is an embarrassing slip-up.

I read the posts here, near every day. I'm often puzzled by how wrong people are regarding their FACTS. Cupertino Ca. is 17 hours behind Sydney Australia. Which results in 7pm (1900 hrs) 10/20 Sydney, being 2am (0200 hrs) 10/20 Cupertino, 1900 -1700 = 0200 (2am)

It should be "### October" not "October ###".

We take our dates seriously here in Australia. We present them in chronological increments i.e., day/month/year (smallest/to/largest), not in some random order.
